Android 4.0 Huawei Ascend G330 Phone With 4" Screen Available For Rs 10,800

Huawei's Ascend G330 handset is now available at several Indian online stores, even as it awaits an official launch in the country. The mid-range 3G smartphone runs Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and is powered by a dual-core 1 GHz CPU with 512 MB of RAM. It sports a 4" capacitive multi-touch screen with pixel dimensions of 800x480. The internal storage is just 4 GB, although it is possible to add up to 32 GB via microSD card. A 5 mp rear snapper with autofocus and LED flash is present in addition to a 0.3 mp front camera that can be used in video calling. 1500 mAh battery can provide up to 5 hours of talk time, which is on par with devices with similar configuration. Here is the detailed specifications sheet:

  • Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).
  • GSM 2G (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz), HSDPA 3G (900, 2100 MHz), Mini-SIM.
  • 4.0" capacitive multi-touch LCD screen with pixel dimensions of 800x480.
  • 1 GHz dual-core Cortex-A5 CPU with 512 MB RAM; Adreno 203 GPU.
  • 4 GB internal storage (2.5 GB user accessible), 32 GB microSD support.
  • 5 megapixel rear camera with autofocus, geotagging, and LED flash, 0.3 megapixel front camera.
  • GPRS, EDGE, 3G (HSDPA 7.2 Mbps, HSUPA 5.76 Mbps), Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with hotspot, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP.
  • Micro-USB, 3.5 mm stereo jack, No HDMI, No FM radio.
  • GPS (with A-GPS), Accelerometer, Proximity sensor.
  • 1500 mAh Li-ion battery with up to 5 hours of talk time and 14.5 days of standby time.
  • 4.82" (l) x 2.46" (w) x 0.44" (11.2 mm) (d); 130 grams.
The features that are noteworthy are the dual-core CPU, and probably the screen that is mentioned to be decent by international reviewers. However, the paltry 512 MB RAM negates the advantage of the fast processor on the ICS platform as does the scant 4 GB of storage, of which only 2.5 GB is actually available to the user. While there is no mention of Google Play, it is unlikely that a prominent manufacturer such as Huawei would miss out on this important feature. After all, this feature allows the user to make the handset more versatile via various apps and games. The absence of an FM radio may irk a few who expect it in a mid-range phone. The specifications do indicate that it should serve as a good multimedia player and portable internet device.
The Huawei Ascend G330 comes in Matt Black and Luxury Silver colour schemes. It is currently available at various online retailers such as Infibeam for Rs 10,800, Snapdeal for Rs 11,000, and is also listed on Flipkart for the same price, although it is currently out of stock.
